Ginger Tea as a Natural Pain Remedy
Being constantly or repeatedly in fear, overwhelmed, stressed, leaves a mark. Eventually, your body voices this mark, your needs. Pain is a signal, it has something to say to you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your headache had a voice, what would it say? If your nausea had a voice, what would it say? If your lower back pain, your neck pain had a voice, what would they say?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you listened to your body lately?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stress over an extended period of time, traumatic experiences, chronic stress can all result in strongly increased cortisol levels. As this leads to tissue impairment and damage, the body is challenged to heal and repair itself. The damage can cause chronic and reoccurring pain in tissue, muscles, joints.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your body's natural response to healing is creating inflammation, but under chronic stress and hypervigilence due to trauma, this response is not regulated anymore. The result is often a weak immune system, which makes you prone to be the first one to catch a cold or the flu.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love ginger tea for its simplicity and healing effects, particularly to counter inflammation. It is so helpful and soothing both for healing from chronic stress as in trauma and for balancing the impacts of stress on your immune system. Gingerol, ginger's bioactive compound, is mostly responsible for this. Ginger is also high in anti-oxidants, which are what your body longs for to repair and protect tissue from being damaged.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Recipe
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To make ginger tea, finely chop or grind a big piece of ginger (about an inch or 2,5cm long) and boil the ginger in 1l filtered water for 10-15 minutes. After bringing the tea to boil, leave it on low heat (with the lit on). You can add raw honey or fresh lemon juice to your ginger tea after boiling it. Be mindful not to add it while it's still boiling, because that would destroy the minerals and vitamins that make raw honey and lemon juice powerful healing foods.
